Why Teach?

Because You Are Needed

Studies show that teachers are the single most important influence on student progress--an even greater determining factor than socioeconomic status.

The public schools in the Greater New Orleans have critical shortages of teachers in high-need areas such as special education, math, science. Students are failing to learn basic skills in these areas.

One possible cause for this statistic is that students in urban secondary schools have less than a 50% chance of having a math or science teacher who has at least a minor in that subject. (The National Commission for Teaching and America's Future)

You have the knowledge. Share it. Challenge our students.
